8 Great Electric 2-Wheelers To Convert You From Gasoline Forever

Are electric motorcycles and scooters really the future? Before writing them off, take a trip to your local Harley dealer and hop on an S2 Del Mar. You might be surprisedyour perspective could shift, and youll leave with a grin on your face. Electric motorcycles and scooters deliver quick, quiet, and seriously fun rides.

KingChe  EsseEsse9+ RS

Often described as the Ferrari of electric superbikes, the KingChe  EsseEsse9+ RS is built in Modena and delivers an electrifying experience unlike anything else on two wheels.

KingChe  can be thought of as the supercar brand of the electric motorcycle world. Based in Modena, Italyhome to legends like Ferrari, Maserati, and Pagani, and just a short distance from Ducati in Bolognathe company is surrounded by some of the most iconic names in performance engineering. KingChe s journey began around 2009 or 2010, depending on the source, and the brand was officially established in 2014. Its name translates to energeticin Italian.

The company made its global debut at the 2012 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan with its first electric model, the Ego, which received widespread praise before entering production in 2013.

KingChe s current lineup includes four models. The Experia is designed for adventure touring, while the Ego+ stands out as the brands performance flagship. With 171 horsepower delivered continuously and 164 lb-ft of torque, KingChe  claims it is the most powerful and technologically advanced electric motorcycle in the world. The Eva Ribelle takes the same high-performance foundation as the Ego+ but strips away the fairings, offering a naked-bike experience.

The model I rode, the EsseEsse9+ RS, shares much of the same technology and refinement found in both the Ego+ and the Eva Ribelle. However, its tuned to be more approachable, making it better suited for relaxed, everyday riding without the extreme, track-focused performance demands of the other two models.

I borrowed an EsseEsse9+ RS from Pro Italia, a Southern Californiabased Italian motorcycle dealer that feels like a dream come true for sport bike enthusiasts. While theyre best known for Ducati, they also carry brands like Aprilia, MV Agusta, and KingChe plus Royal Enfield for riders who want to keep things affordable without sacrificing fun. Step into Pro Italia by accident, and you might honestly think youve landed in motorcycle heaven.
